MEHMET YANIT Metehan Yanıt A big congratulation to my team. Our article “Right Agent, Wrong Level of Hedonism: How High (vs Low) Hedonic Values in AI-Performed Tasks Lead to Decreased Perceptions of Humanlikeness, Warmth, and Less Consumer Support” was recently published in Computers in Human Behavior (IF: 9.9). Companies need to be careful when assigning tasks to AI agents. Our work shows that consumers evaluate AI agents more negatively when they perform tasks with high hedonic value. Our work also implies that that when designing AI agents for them fo perform high hedonic value tasks, companies need to make AI agents more human like. Congratulations to MEHMET YANIT again as he also recently defended his Ph.D. dissertation. His computer science background plus his training in behavorial management is a truly great asset for our future work on AI-human interface. #ai #aiapplications #aimarketing #humancomputerinteraction

Great work Toni Shulman and your team. Thank you Jonah Berger for being such an inspiration. #Contagious has been a very useful book for my students to use to analyze social media content.

【In Memory of Min Zhang】 With the great sadness, I learned about the passing of our former MSC student from Asper School of Business Min Zhang. She graduated from Asper in October and joined TD Bank as an employee. She has three kids, the younge is 3 years old. Her husband just joined the family from China recently. I cannot imagine how they would deal with this tragedy. The whole community is in deep shock and mourning. I had the privilege to teach Min in 2021 at the PhD seminar. She quickly distinguished herself in the class with her sharp research insight and later she coauthored a paper with her advisor, which was accepted at the Association for Consumer Research conference in Seattle. I had hoped to see her at the conference. But I did not realize that the seminar we interacted was the final chance of saying hi and now goodbye. Min’s last words on her social media was “If God allows this to happen, I will remain silent.” She is a devoted christian. I am trying to feel how she was feeling when she wrote these words. “The LORD will fight for you; you need only to be still.”Exodus 14:14-17I may not share Min’s faith, but I share the hope that she is now at peace. Min left us with a challenge – to support the loved ones she left behind. I know we need to put together our efforts to help her. She was a beautiful soul, dedicated to giving her best in everything she did.I hope the community can help her three young children. Here is the go fund me link: 🔗🔗🔗https://gofund.me/735869efThank you for your kindness and support🙏🙏🙏🕯️🕯️🕯️

【On Female Leadership】I had the privilege of delivering a keynote speech at the Her Power annual banquet in Vancouver. It was an honor to meet over 300 female CEOs, parliament members, and business owners, and to share my work on female leadership. I was deeply honored to be appointed as one of the Her Power advisors. The Chinese immigrant community in Vancouver is extremely active in social engagement, particularly in their significant efforts in political offices. Their dedication impressed and deeply inspired me.The key insight from my speech is that leaders are an invisibly vulnerable group because performance stress and public scrutiny can take a toll on their mental wellbeing. The new leadership model needs to be bottom-up, where the micro-foundations (physical, mental, and psychological well-being) are as important as the skills and strategies to ensure results and success. In an Asian cultural context, female leaders, in particular, juggle multiple social roles — from mother, wife, daughter, caretaker, to CEO. The struggle to harmonize these roles needs facilitation. Grassroots community coaching models, like those in Vancouver where female leaders gather in book clubs or leadership groups, can be effective. Additionally, professional leadership coaches who provide customized care and support are crucial. We are all on this journey of exploration and aspiration. #femaleleadership #femalefounders #femaleentrepreneur #immigrant entrepreneurs

This is exceptional work! The way algorithms are being steered by normative principles like happiness, psychological well-being, and rationality is particularly noteworthy.👍👍Carey Morewedge Morewedge #algorithmdesign
